CARACOL
VIPRA AM

The Vipra AM is Caracol's large format Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) platform for producing large, structurally demanding metal components. A 6-axis robotic architecture integrating hardware, software, and automation enables processing of metal alloys at part scales and deposition rates that traditional systems cannot achieve.

System Overview

The Vipra AM is a WAAM platform for large-scale metal component production. Built around a 9-axis industrial robotic arm with integrated positioner kinematics, the system operates across two deposition head configurations: the XQ, using Plasma Arc Deposition for high-integrity precision parts, and the XP, using Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) for high-throughput production. The system is capable of processing materials including titanium, stainless steel, Inconel, Invar 36, aluminium, and nickel alloys.

Software

Caracol’s Eidos Manufacturing software is developed and tailored for Heron AM platforms. The Eidos suite handles everything from slicing to fleet management. Eidos Builder supports planar, angled, non-planar, conformal, and surface-based toolpath strategies across 6+2 axes, with full collision and singularity simulation pre-production.

Eidos Nexus layers on real-time process monitoring, data logging, predictive maintenance, and AI-enabled automation, providing the visibility and control infrastructure needed to scale from single-cell operation to multi-system production environments.
